Happy New Year!

As ShowCase - the Best of New music enters the new year, we have to say thanks to all of the folks who repeatedly visit our site, or shop at our store, or refer bands to us,... thanks!  We appreciate the support.  2000 promises to be very exciting with events planned from the Telluride Blue Grass festival, the BAMMIES, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions, the High Sierra Music Festival and lots more.

Tonight's the BIG one!  ShowCase - the Best of new Music will be debuting performances form our new venue!  the Fox Theater looks fantastic!  The stage rigging has been completed, the lighting board is installed in the balcony, there are sound systems everywhere, our cameras and encoders are poised and ready, this is going to be so cool!!

We're planning on webcasting tonite's show from www.foxdream.com.  If you are out partying and want to see Lydia Pense w/ Cold Blood, the Dave Crimmen Band and Louie Bellson's Big Band with Madeline Eastman on vocals, the videos will be available to watch on-demand at your convenience.

ShowCase - the Best of new music did a road show from the Paradise Lounge in San Francisco last night!  It was the First annual RockTronic Christmas party in the Transmission Theater.

We filmed The Barney's, Vegas deMilo and Joe's Friend.  Three cool sets from 3 VERY COOL bands!  As usual you will be able to catch these performances as soon as tehy are encoded and posted to this site.  Thaks for watching!

ShowCase and eClipsNow are teaming together to bring the new year in with a webcast from the Fox Theater in Redwood City, CA.  Yep, the Theater will be ready to rock and roll by the end of the year!  All of the painting has been completed, our Studio is in place, the audio system is dynamite, this will be fun!

Wow!  Nina Storey and her Band were terrific!  They are still filled with the excitement of their US Tour and the energy level in the Studio last night was REALLY high!  This Band is going places!

Rock on, Vegas !

The show last night was SUPER !!  Ziff Davis went ALL OUT to present this gig!  The stage was HUGE, the production first rate.  The audience was made comfortable by a LOT of propane heaters; there was food available, as well as liquid refreshment.  From what we saw everyone had a blast !!

Both these bands are soundiing awesome these days!  We'll be streaming the show just as soon as the tapes arrive back from LV.  And mark December 30th on your calenders.  Rumor is FOB's are playing at the Fillmore in SF.

Did you really think we could go to Vegas and not work?

COMDEX is promoting the 1st Annual Battle of the Bands tomorrow night.  ShowCase and our Partners at eClips Now will be shooting this gig!  Featured will be an opening act by Sinbad, followed by appearances by The Raving Dave's and The Flying Other Brothers.  This should be great !

The stage is set up in the parking lot just outside the Convention Center doors.  The show starts at 6 PM.

Tomorrow is the BIG day !

COMDEX opens in Vegas.  This is the 20th annual event and ShowCase is proud to be part of it once again!  Our footage will be on view in the IBM booth as part of their demonstration of the performance of their COOL Fibre Channel Disk Drives.

We've just signed Nina Storey for the December 1st show in Hayward!

If you haven't heard of her, then you must have missed the recent Jonny Lang Tour.  Nina and her Band opened at 5 shows around the US.  Nina was voted Denver's Top vocalist in 1999 with her electrifying mix of funky pop/rock/blues.  Her newest CD, Shades, is one of the top-selling CD's in the State of Colorado.

ShowCase is gearing up for the annual COMDEX gig in Las Vegas.  Our videos will be used in a technology demonstration with IBM and the Fibre Channel Industry Association.  The videos and some new ones from Warner/Reprise Records will be moving throughout the booth demonstrating the blazing speed of IBM's new Fibre Channel Disk Drives.

We'll be in the Las Vegas Convention Center November 13th - 19th 1999, Booth N205.  Stop by and say Hi !

Did you catch our webcast yesterday?  ShowCase was asked to help produce a webcast of the Music Business 2005 Conference in Emeryville, CA.  LOTS of Senior Execs from virtually all of the policy makers involved in the music business.  The topics addressed the analysis of the music industry in 2005 and what hurdles will need to be overcome.  It was quite boisterous at times ;-)

Ex'Pressions Center for New Media was the location of the event.  It's students took the webcast on as an assignment.  They rounded up ShowCase - the Best of new music, eClips Communications Inc., IVT, Intervu, and Burst to get them going.  Today, they are soloing.  Check it out at http://www.MB-5.com

Today, Lisa Trevorrow and The Deepfield are doing a demo for Liquid Audio.  The band will record in one of Ex'Pressions audio studios while the music is liquified.  By the end of the performace, you download Artist authorized recordings!  You can get a Liquid Player at http://www.liquidaudio.com

ShowCase hosted Monkey Ska at our new home in the Fox Theater, Redwood City, Ca on Tuesday nite.  Location Digital Recording handled the audio portion of the show superbly !!  The band was incredible!!!  Very high energy and very fun!

We weren't able to webcast this event due to last minute technical difficulties, but the taped video will make for some great on demand viewing.  We're looking forward topresenting more shows from the Fox soon!

ShowCase did a remote shoot last night from the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.  What a cool place!

The occasion was the CD release party for the band The Flying Other Bros.  The CD is entitled IPO and sounds pretty good.  The band also did an audio recording of the show so you can expect a second round from these guys.  Very fun!

What a cool show last night!  Dave Crimmen Band and Orchadia, voca del bario were too much!  The house was jumping !!!

ShowCase is just back from Vegas !  That place is really action packed!

We were there to contribute our needs and solutions to the American National Standards Institute.  It was a roundtable trying to define the most efficient implementations for storage of streaming media files.  Very cool stuff  when you consider multiple simultaneous streams of multiple bit rates.

garageband.com was founded by a bunch of serious music professionals who recognize the ShowCase Artists are where the next Top music stars will come from, the audience promoting the music.  They have set up a rankinig system on their site that reflects the most listened to song from their growing archive.  At the end of the reviewing period, the Artist with  the highest ranked song wins a $250,000 recording contract !

Also performing October 9th will be the Dave Crimmen Band.  Dave puts on a real rockabilly show!  His obvious influences include Elvis and the Stray Cats.  There seems to be a bit of Brian Setzer thrown in for good measure!

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Denise Lippert will be hosting this episode.  Denise comes to us from our friends at eClips Communications.  This promises to be a BLAST !!!

You sure can't accuse ShowCase- the Best of new music of sitting still!  We have just completed an agreement with the Global Media Corporation..  Global Media will begin promoting ShowCase as the Premier video supplier to their Global network of entertainment on the WWW.  We will be available across a terrific distributed network architecture and utilizing our own custom player.  How does it go?  "Taking ShowCase further...."

There's a real surprise in store for you!  On October 6th, ShowCase is proud to present our first Latin music show.  Our featured guests are Orchadia, voca del bario.  Orchadia is a 17 year old with  more talent than Brittany Spears and what's her name put together!  The show will be hosted by Ms. Alix Schaer.  Alix has been clamoring about a hosting gig for a while now, so here's her chance.  We can't wait!

Thank you Lisa Trevorrow !  The Deepfield are awesome!  The Band's performance rocked!   You can catch this show on a Public Access TV station near you beginning September 14th.  We will have it encoded onto the ShowCase site in just a bit, so check back soon!

WOW!!!!  As you all know, ShowCase - the Best of new music has been a non-profit endeavor for the past 15 years.  In that time, the Team has incurred many dollars worth of expenses: things like film, tapes, travel expenses etc.  All those funds have been coming out of our pockets.  Fortunately, TCI Cable Services has helped out with the rest of the expenses.

Well, things are about to change!!

It's official !  ShowCase is now expanding to a second Studio !  We are very stoked to be having a Studio on both sides of the San Francisco Bay !  Just think of the possiblities now !!!

ShowCase will be broadcasting from the historic Fox Theater in beautiful downtown Redwood City.  The theater was built in 1927, and is now designated as a National Historic landmark  It hasn't been used in quite a while so there are still a few things to get worked out, but, there is activity there every day of the week.

We will be installing a completely digital Studio just as soon as the contractors finish installing some circular staircases for us.  Our data lines are all in, so we anticipate the first webcast from the Fox within 45 days.  For a housewarming party, how about we present Monkey and Smashmouth?

OOOOPS!!!  ShowCase and 4 other enterprises were brought to a halt today when someone hacked into the hosting server and trashed the files.  We have been a bit fortunate in that we kept sort of regular backups.  Those will start to be reloaded, which of course, will take some time.  Stay with us and thanks for watching ShowCase!

Happy Holiday !  The ShowCase staff is all off enjoying their summer vacations but will be regrouping for the upcoming Studio show featuring The SlapTones AND Natasha Miller and Company.  Both bands are HOT and fun.

Tickets are still available for this year's Electronic Frontier Foundation Benefit (3rd annual).  This year the headliner is non other than Bob Weir's RatDog!!  And of course, the Flying Other Bros will share the stage.  For more info, click here.   All  proceeds go to support EFF's work in protecting free expression, privacy,  and security online.

Can you say scheduling nightmare?

Between  trying to shoot multiple shows on the same night, on the wrong nights, we were surprised to find the lovely Christene Pinter in our Studio last night!  Anticipating the rythms of the drums of the Slaptones, the sight of Christene setting up for a one person acoustic guitar performance caused quite a stir in the Studio.  Turns out The SlapTones had arranged for her to fill in for them as they had an unexpected conflict.

But, what a treat!  Christene performed a number of songs that she has written to a very appreciative audience.  Her style definitely shows a Joni Mitchell influence, coupled with a sort of Linda Ronstadt south of the border flare (Christene is the real thing tho;-)  For a glimpse into her style, check out her virtual art gallery.

Ms Laura Reily was the Host of this show.  She's new, fun and pumped to bring you the latest in new music!

Wow!!  Lane is HOT!!  We had a great time in the Studio with these folk!  As always, encoding of the show takes a while.  As  soon as we finish, you'll be able to enjoy 6 songs performed by the band.  In the mean time, catch the show on your local cable channel, or listen to some streaming samples here.

Sorry for any bandwidth constraints that our usual audience may have encountered (there shouldn't have been any, but, broadcasting LIVE for 72hours wasn't tested before this.  The HUGE # of hits to the site showed an audience almost as large as the 1998 International Rust Fest cast !!  Thanks for watching !

Live from Las Vegas !

That's right, ShowCase has brought along the studio in a box and is broadcasting live from the Fibre Channel Loop Community booth atNAB.   We're using the Videonics mixer to capture footage from 4 corners of the booth.  You can check it out at the SANaganza page.  We saw it streaming from the Real Networks booth once as we passed by ;-)

Tomorrow, ShowCase leaves for the National Association of Broadcasters  convention in Las Vegas !  This is "the Convergence Marketplace" so we are very excited about being part of it all.  We'll be at S2150 in the Sands Convention Center through Thursday the 22nd.

Whoa!!  All of the audience seats are now gone for Lane  !!  Thanks for writing and we'll make sure you stay on the mailing list for upcoming shows.  Thanks!

Finally, we've confirmed that our May 5th show will feature none other than Lane  !  Their fan club has pretty much filled the available house seats, but there are a few seats left.  Contact us ASAP if you want to sit in on this COOL gig !

 ShowCase was proud to present the music of The Wags in our Studio last night !  What a terrific sound, and, a great bunch of folk !  Their music is totally unconventional !  It harkens back to the Depression and its' roots are from the peoples hearts at the time.  We got the impression that some people actually might have enjoyed the Depression :-)

We'll have the footage encoded and ready for view soon !

The preparations for the ShowCase demo at the National Association of Broadcasters show are moving full speed ahead!  We've encoded some of our favorite shows as both AVI and MPEG.  We will be sharing the files with a bunch of members of the Fibre Channel Loop Community.  The goal of the demo is to show how easy it is for an upstart production company like ShowCase to deliver high caliber footage seamlessly across a fibre channel fabric.  Heady stuff?  Check it out at the Sands Convention Center in Vegas April 19 - 22, booth S2150.

Tomorrow night we are featuring The Wags in the Studio.  The audience is all ready filled, sorry that we can't accomodate anymore.  We'll be streaming the show starting Thursday.  So, if you can't wait for the show to appear on tv in your neighborhood, check it out here!

Just back from New York City !  ShowCase covered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony again this year !  The trip was amazing!  The Rock Hall folks went all out for this event and it showed !

Bono gave a terrific introduction for Bruce Springsteen, Sir Paul McCartney wow'ed everyone with his humbleness and daughter Stella, Bonnie Raitt most graciously accepted the honor for Mr. Charles Brown.  It was a terrific experience.

ShowCase had our cameras positioned up front and center backstage, so we have some great stuff to encode.  Check back soon!

Wow!  What a BAMMIES!!!  The California Music Awards last nite were very cool!  Once again Dennis Erokan managed to put together a great tribute to local musicians.  Some of the attendees and winners included Joan Baez, Bonnie Raitt, Lars Ulrich, Chris Isaak and Don Johnson. ShowCase was able to meet up with a lot of folk backstage.

We've got some fun interviews with Chris Isaak,  Les Claypool, Tony Toni Tone, Narada Michael Walden and others that we will be streaming soon.  We also featured a guest appearance by Ms. Mellisa Black!

The Tommy Castro Band were our featured artists in the Studio tonite !  This new CD Right as Rain is a definite MUST HAVE !!!  The guys poured their heart into the performance tonight and you can see it encoded right here at showcase.further.com

If you haven't bought tickets for the March 6th gig at the Fillmore, you'd better hurry !  You don't want to miss out on this !

Have you all bought your tickets for the BAMMIES yet?  $30, 60, 100 for a full night of fun!!  ShowCase has staked out our territory for another "Backstage at the BAMMIES" special.   Both Ashley and Patrice are "working" this show, so gentlemen, Watch out!!!

In all seriousness, the new CAMMIE format seems to be pretty popular.  Now, both Northern and Southern California are represented!  Not only is a more wide selection of talent  receiving exposure, more folk are having FUN!

The Team talked it over at our meeting last night and decided it's probably OK to announce some of the talent we expect to be on ShowCase in the next couple of months.  We haven't set dates in some instances, but, it's with pleasure we  will showcase - BLO (that's the Beth Lisick Ordeal!!!!), Shana Morrison, Duke Daniels, Lane, The Wags.  And, that's all by June!!

Don't forget Tommy Castro Band  March 3rd!!  We've still got a few spaces left in the Studio audience.  First 3 e-mails who can confirm they'll make it are in!!  The clock's ticking for this exciting show, Tommy debuting songs from his brand new CD!!.

The ShowCase Team hopes everyone has a splendid Day!  You all did know that the couple who met on the ShowCase set have a son now?!;-)

That National Association of Broadcasters convention/conference is coming up in April in Vegas.  That Big Blue company has asked ShowCase for our most recent shows to "showcase" their new hardware, again!!  More details as we know them, but count on multiple  MPEG2 streams running concurrently!

You know the footage that TV stations show when they go off the air at night?  It used to be the Star-spangled Banner here in the States.  The flag would flutter in the breeze as the national anthem played in the background..  Surely you've seen it.

Well, TCI in the Bay Area has replaced that with a 45 second clip of the making of a ShowCase show!  The featured Band was MoJo Madness.  Studio Engineers Tron Miller and Leroy Francis worked extra camera duty one night and filmed the crew setting up the studio lighting, checking sound levels, sweating over the production.... and created a very cool vignette!!  It'll be encoded here soon!

Our Picnic show was GREAT!!!   These folk are really talented!  Sally Hebble can sure steal the show!  Did you know their drummer is "the smartest drummer on the planet"?  Neither did we, but we found out during Ashley's interview.

Rolling Stones are in town for the Oakland opener.  Lots of  reports of the boys enjoying the restaurants around town!  How about those rumours of the Stones on ShowCase?!  Stay Tuned!!

ShowCase is pleased to announce an appearance by Picnic !!  Wednesday, February 3 in the Studio.  These folks are cool!  Here's what Fritz has to say about them - "Picnic are funky and fresh...a  wide  assortment of styles and songs which exhibit a profound sense of style and  craftmanship. This is some of the  music I've ever heard on a self-released CD..the entire thing is brimming with  originality"

Sounds pretty tasty, huh!

We finally have finished our move!!!  ShowCase has set up shop in a much larger, far more efficeint space!!  We still have some work to do like bringing up all of the networks, more VTR cabling, etc., but we already love it!  Thanks for the help, suggestions and patience!

Wow!!  OK, Tommy Castro is in the ShowCase Studio March 3rd, then on March 5th, he will be playing at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco!  And, he has asked ShowCase to come in and film the performance!!  Some tickets are still available at Bass.  And while you are at the show, say hello to the ShowCase Team, we'll all be wearing the new Team jackets ;-)

Don't forget, the Tommy Castro Band will be in the ShowCase Studio on March 5th.  Word on the street is that his new CD is HOT!!

COMDEX was a Blast!  A lot of work, but, still a lot of fun.  It was pretty cool to see ShowCase on 4 screens all week long.  In no particular order, Blew Willie,Sparrow's Point, EZ Money, and DaisyHead appeared the favorites?  Of course, all of the ShowCase bands looked good ;-)

Well, we've pencilled in The Tommy Castro Band for a March appearance on ShowCase. Tommy (the Hardest Working Band in the Business" Castro is currently in the Studio finishing up his latest CD.  It is scheduled for a mid February release.

We featured an interview with Tommy a couple of years ago.  He had just one another award, a BAMMIE.  It will be great to see him again.  This promises to be a very fun show!

Daisy Head and Rebecca's Mask in the studio tonight!  Check these bands out!!  Both are actively touring the Bay Area.  If you get a chance, go see them, you won't be disappointed!  We will be posting strreaming video of last night's  ShowCase performances "Real" soon.  As a teaser, here's a streaming video of a recent TV performance by Rebecca's Mask.

Wow!  LOTS going on right now!  The CyberCast was a Blast!  Over 20 musicians performed during the 6 hour event.  Approximately 100 people came out to the Redwood Grove at Saratoga Springs to hear the music.  Definitely an event to plan for, next year.

We are featuring 2 bands in the Studio tonight.  DaisyHeadand Rebecca's Mask.  They both are VERY good!  This new format of 2 shows a night is a bit rough on the ShowCase crew, but the Band's are sure a BIG help!

Well, ShowCase continues to define the envelope!!   Friday, October 16th, we will present our first CyberCast !  We are scheduled to begin the broadcast at 5 PM PDT.  We will conclude at approximately 11 PM PDT.  The URL to follow is http://showcase.further.com/cybercast.htm

The event promises to be a lot of fun!  The stage is set up in the middle of a redwood grove.  There are 20 musicians, from around the world, joining in the jam.  Check it out!

We are filming 2 shows a night now.  Bands we've featured recently include  Blew Willie and  !Tang. Both are really awesome!  We lost out on The Tommy Castro Band, but, they will join us in February when their new CD is out

Ever hear of Sparrows Point ? Not only is it the home of a huge steel mill in Maryland, it is the name of a very promising band here in San Francisco. They have been named as Semi-Finalists in Musician Magazine's Best Unsigned Band contest. And, they will be in the ShowCase Studio August 5th. Check it out!

Well, we scrubbed tonight's show. The band cancelled at the last possible minute. So, we'll use the time to work on integrating our streaming videos.

What a BLAST ! The EFF Benefit must have been very successful! Lots of folk, lots of cheer Ashley Foster certainly had fun Onstage!

Our attempts at producing the first, entirely digital ShowCase show were dashed though, when it was pointed out our RF wireless microphones were analog.

As you wait for us to load up our coverage of the evening, take a few moments to launch the streaming video of EFF President, Mr. Barry Steinhardt, telling us about EFF. The clip runs about 3 minutes and is VERY informative.

The team is staying up late tonight. Everyone is busy checking batteries, film, cameras...

Tomorrow night is the Electronic Frontier Foundation benefit at the Fillmore, and we want everything to go perfect. EFF works so hard for us on the net, it's only right we work hard for them.

The summer concert season is underway! Lineups for most of the Bay Area venues have been announced, and it is going to be a HOT summer!
